Date, time and location announced for historic tournament to take place in Central Valley
Fresno, Calif. – Central Valley Fuego FC announced today they will play host for the second round match of the 107th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup to be held on April 5 at 7:30 PM PST at Lamonica Stadium in Clovis, Calif. against El Paso Locomotive FC of USL Championship.
In 2003 Fuego FC, then Fresno Fuego FC of USL League Two, made it through three rounds facing Chico Rooks of NISA with a 1-0 win, a 4-0 shutout against Utah Blitzz FC of USL League Two and a 5-2 win against former El Paso Patriots. With three successful wins, the Fresno Fuego took on the LA Galaxy. The historic match started with a goal in the first quarter of the match by Eddie Gutierrez with an assist by Orlando Ramirez. Ultimately, Fresno Fuego FC took a 3-1 loss.
