Fuego FC’s League Two team will play home matches at Fresno Pacific University’s Ramirez Field
FRESNO, Calif. – Central Valley Fuego FC 2, nicknamed Fuego Dos, announced today it will open its history in USL League Two at Fresno Pacific University’s Ramirez Field. This new location will provide a high-quality soccer experience for the club’s players, staff, and fans as it plays all of the home matches of its inaugural 2022 season this summer. Located on the campus of Fresno Pacific University, and featuring a natural-grass playing surface, Ramirez Field offers an authentic and intimate atmosphere for fans of all ages.
“We couldn’t be more excited to play our home matches at Ramirez Field and Fresno Pacific University, where it all began for Fuego,” said Orlando Ramirez, Head Coach of Fuego FC 2.”
Fresno Pacific University has a rich history with the Fuego. Many Fresno Pacific Alumni makeup Fuego FC 2’s coaching staff, as well as several Fresno Pacific Alumni and former Fresno Pacific University Men’s soccer players have also made appearances with the Fuego throughout its history. Through this partnership, Fuego FC 2 will bring a family-friendly atmosphere, a high level of soccer, and opportunities for fans of all ages to see local talent take center stage and play teams throughout the California region.
“The University is excited about what it means to have Fuego FC 2 playing at Ramirez Field this summer. This is a wonderful opportunity not only for FPU, but for the surrounding community to watch future stars in their own neighborhood,” said Morgan Walker, FPU Athletic Director. “We will get the benefit of our name and facility being both broadcasted and seen locally, regionally and nationally. This partnership will give the community a chance to visit our campus and facilities and to benefit from future programming that will come from this partnership. We are happy and look forward to a bright future with Fuego FC.”
Breaking from the past, which has often seen professional contests played in non-soccer-specific venues, Fuego FC 2 will provide our fans and community with a much more enriching viewing experience.
“It’s amazing to see things come full circle. Fresno Fuego played at Steinert Field (now Steinert Campus Center) at FPU in 2002. Now, League Two will play at Ramirez Field, which is a perfect way to honor such a historic soccer tradition in the Central Valley,” shared Nehemias Blanco, VP of Fútbol. “I’m looking forward to watching this young group of talented players take the pitch and represent the crest!”
